The Arizona Cardinals are a professional American football team based in the Phoenix metropolitan area. They are a member of the National Football League (NFL) and play in the NFC West division. The franchise was founded in 1898 in Chicago and is one of the oldest teams in the NFL.
The team was originally known as the Chicago Cardinals and played in the city until 1960 when they moved to St. Louis, Missouri, becoming the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1988, the team relocated to Arizona and has been known as the Arizona Cardinals ever since.
Throughout their history, the Cardinals have had periods of success and struggles. They have won several division championships and conference championships. The team’s most notable achievement came in the 2008 season when they won the NFC Championship and advanced to Super Bowl XLIII. Although they put up a strong fight, they were narrowly defeated by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The Cardinals’ home games are played at State Farm Stadium, located in Glendale, Arizona, a suburb of Phoenix. The team’s colors are cardinal red, black, and white, and their mascot is named “Big Red.”
